Public Engagement & Exhibition Fundraiser Volunteers

As a small charity, we rely on donations we receive from generous members of the public. 

We currently have opportunities for Public Engagement Volunteers and Exhibition Fundraisers to support our Photography Exhibition: "The Most Precious Thing I Have in My Possession" in Swindon Town Centre from Monday 20th Nov 2017 - Saturday 23rd December 2017.

You will positively represent the charity and engage with all visitors to the exhibition. 

Your buoyant and enthusiastic personality will have tremendous scope to shine through as you facilitate and ensure all public visitors have a fantastic exhibition experience. 

You will be at the public interface which will help raise the profile of the work that Threshold undertakes as well as helping to raise vital funds that provide critical outreach and support services to Swindon's homeless and those that are 'sleeping rough'.

Online Fundraiser Volunteer

As a small charity, we rely on donations we receive from generous members of the public. The online fundraiser volunteer will help the charity raise vital funds by organising online sales, using social media & free resale sites to encourage donations and any other innovative way they could think of to boost donations!

Key responsibilities:

  • Organising online donations and selling products to raise funds through social media and free resale sites
  • Identifying & leveraging opportunities to maximise online sales potential
  • Using simple photography skills to visually promote items to potential customers
  • Utilising product knowledge to create accurate and appealing written content on our web based listing tools
  • Evaluating items value and setting the prices effectively

Key skills:

  • Good IT skills
  • Basic photography skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to work within THL’s guidelines
  • Experience of working on own initiative and as part of a team

Opportunities for the volunteer:

  • Experience in online fundraising
  • Training and guidance will be provided
  • Work with Threshold Housing Link to reduce homelessness

Hostel Support & Resettlement Workers

Operating mainly in our direct access hostel, Culvery Court, successful applicants will provide quality housing management and general support for up to 20 homeless men, working with them to address their support needs.

Experience of working with homeless clients and an understanding of alcohol and substance misuse is desirable however no previous hostel experience is required. Threshold focuses on the qualities of the applicant and the possession of transferable skills. Reliability and flexibility are key personal qualities required for this role. In addition, strength of character and an aptitude to learn quickly. The ability to work rotational on day and nights shifts is essential.

Trustee/Director

We are currently looking for new people with the expertise, time and enthusiasm to become a Trustee/Director of the charity. We hope to attract reliable and committed people to join the small, friendly and purposeful group of trustee/directors at a very exciting time in the organisation’s history.

We are looking to strengthen our Board with dynamic voluntary Trustees with skills and expertise in Human Resources, Marketing, Finance, Fundraising and Law, however other skills /sectors would also be welcome. You will be joining a Board, with extensive business experience, and you will play a key role in driving forward the charity’s strategic direction. If selected to join our Trustee/Director group your commitment will be to attend:

  • Monthly directors meetings including an AGM
  • A sub committee group of your particular interest or skill related
  • One board development day each year

As a Trustee/Director you will help the senior Management Team make important decisions regarding the recruitment of senior members of staff, budget allocation, project development and premise acquisitions. In addition, they hold the charity to account for its actions and support its development by asking challenging questions and ensuring progress is being made and systems maintained. Becoming a Trustee/Director of Threshold Housing Link, Swindons leading homeless charity, is a fantastic opportunity to learn and apply transferable skills, gain experience in areas such as project management, recruitment and budget control whilst doing something great for the community at the same time.

Relief Resettlement Worker

Threshold is currently seeking to increase its bank of relief resettlement workers to work at Culvery Court, a direct access hostel for single homeless men.

This is a relief position that :

  • covers shift in the rota during staff absences / shortages
  • could be called on a short notice when required, but will be given as much notice as possible
  • will also cover overnight sleep-in duties
  • offers an hourly rate of £8.90p = £75.65p for a day shift & £128.80p for a nightshift, inclusive of sleep-in allowance. A weekend enhancement of (@1.25) also applies
  • provides a paid induction period & training opportunities
